π Welcome to Our Autumn Term! π
We are looking forward to a fantastic autumn term packed with exciting learning, discovery and creativity!
In English, we will become authors and storytellers, exploring spooky warning tales, exciting journey stories, non-chronological reports and instruction writing. We can't wait to share our wonderful writing with you!
In Maths, we will be developing our confidence with number, calculation and shape. We will be strengthening our addition and subtraction skills while exploring numbers up to 100 and becoming increasingly fluent mathematicians.
Our Geography learning will help us make sense of the world around us as we investigate our school and local area, create maps and develop our mapping skills. Later in the term, we will travel back in time in History to discover all about the Romans in Britain, learning about their army, towns, invasion of Britain and the lasting impact they had on our country.
Science will see us become young investigators! We will explore the amazing human body, learning about our skeleton, muscles, healthy lifestyles and how to stay well. We will then discover fascinating habitats and investigate how living things survive in different environments around the world.
In RE, we will be thinking deeply about big questions, including Creation, what Christians believe God is like, and why Christmas is important to Christians.
Our PSHE lessons will help us to understand ourselves and others as we develop teamwork, communication and emotional wellbeing. We will explore how to work together successfully, manage our feelings, make good choices and understand our rights and responsibilities as members of our school community.
In Music, we will enjoy listening to and appraising different pieces of music, learning new songs and developing our performance skills. We will also begin to play the glockenspiel and explore rhythm and melody.
Through Computing, we will build our basic computer skills while learning how to stay safe online. In Design and Technology, we will become food technologists as we learn about preparing and making healthy foods.
Our Art learning will be full of colour and creativity as we explore shape, tints and shades, and the work of artists such as Paul Klee and Henri Matisse. We will experiment with colour, texture and composition to create our own fantastic artwork.
For a more detailed overview of the exciting topics your child will be learning about this term, please take a moment to browse our curriculum guide.
Don’t forget to download the autumn term homework menu, which outlines the various homework tasks your child can choose from, alongside regular reading practice.
We are excited for a term full of curiosity, challenge and achievement, and we look forward to sharing our learning journey with you throughout the year. ππβ¨
